About this Role

Safety Manager

 

If you enjoy working with a great group of professionals, are accurate, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and enjoy using your construction and organizational skills, then we have a role for you! Potelco, Inc. seeks a great Safety Manager to join the team in the office at Laurel, MT.

 

The Safety Manager position leads and supports safety initiatives across our operations in Montana. This position works both in the field and the office, fostering a culture of safety excellence and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

What You'll Do

 

Program Development & Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Support corporate safety initiatives and drive continuous improvement efforts.
  • Represent Potelco during on-site regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Stay informed of industry best practices, regulatory updates, and emerging trends in occupational safety.

 

Field Safety & Risk Management

  • Conduct regular job site safety observations and audits to identify risks and ensure adherence to company standards.
  • Respond to emergency call-outs, storm duty, and other urgent safety-related needs as assigned.
  • Promote and sustain a total safety culture through employee engagement and leadership support.

Training & Employee Engagement

  • Provide guidance and education on safe work practices, regulatory compliance, and the use of safety equipment.
  • Work closely with the General Foreman in addressing crew related matters.
  • Facilitate, develop, and deliver safety training programs to employees and leadership teams.
  • Attend and contribute to safety meetings, conferences, and industry-related events.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics and trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare and present safety reports and recommendations to senior management.

What You'll Bring

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 5+ years of safety management experience in utilities or construction industries.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, and other applicable safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Valid state driver’s license
  • Must pass mandatory drug and alcohol screenings.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in high-voltage powerline or utility construction environments.
  • Previous experience overseeing safety teams or programs in multi-site operations.
