About this Role

The Vice President of Safety Operations will lead a select group of Quanta’s Operating Companies. As a senior leader, they will operate with significant independence and serve as a trusted advisor within the Corporate Safety, Health & Environmental department. This role is empowered to support Operating Companies — providing the authority and accountability needed to drive strategic execution.

What You'll Do

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive safety strategy aligned with corporate goals and operational priorities.
  • Interface with executive leadership to align safety strategy Corporate objectives and business needs.
  • Drive implementation of strategic safety activities throughout the enterprise.
  • Provide leadership and vision for safety culture transformation across all Operating Companies.
  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, advising on all safety-related matters.
  • Seek and analyze data from a variety of sources to support decisions and to align others with the organization's overall strategy.

Program Development & Implementation

  • Provide governance and oversight of the Operating Companies across the enterprise with regards to safety results, programs, processes.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on The Capacity Model, helping Operating Companies develop strategies on how best to integrate the model into their daily management of people and work.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Mentor and develop region/ Operating Companies safety leaders.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration between safety, operations, HR, and training departments.
  • Guides Operating Companies in implementation of overall strategy for continuous improvement of all safety initiatives.

Relationships and Influence

  • Naturally connects and builds strong relationships with others, demonstrating strong emotional intelligence and an ability to communicate clearly and persuasively.
  • Collaborate with Operating Companies in the creation of strategies and processes to ensure compliance with Federal, State and local safety rules. Drive consistency among organizations when appropriate.

Communication

  • Collaborate with Operating Companies, Region and Corporate teams to create and distribute critical communications.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.

The ideal candidate will bring deep experience leading safety within a field services environment. They must have a proven track record of improving safety culture and performance, leading to meaningful enhancements in employee well-being and overall business outcomes.

What You'll Bring

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering or related fields and 15 years of Safety experience, including 5 years in Leadership/Executive role.

OR

  • At least 18 years of Safety experience, including 5 years in Leadership/Executive role in lieu of education and experience mentioned above

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree in Safety Management, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering or related fields.
  • Experience working in a highly decentralized organization.

Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred

Competencies

  • Ability to establish, build and maintain effective relationships with Operating Units and represent the company in a public forum.
  • Deep understanding of federal, state, and local safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, DOT, EPA).
  • Expertise in safety management systems (SMS), incident investigation protocols, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Strong working knowledge of field operations.
  • Fluent in Human and Organizational Performance principles.
  • Understanding of environmental compliance, emergency response planning, and industrial hygiene.
  • Knowledge of safety-related technology platforms and analytics tools (e.g., EHS software, mobile reporting tools, safety dashboards).
  • Awareness of emerging industry trends, technologies, and best practices in safety and health.
  • Ability to develop, update and manage workplace safety programs, procedures and policies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong ability to influence.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders—from field crews to executive boards.
