About this Role

FiberTel is looking for an Assistant Controller for our Springville, UT location.

 

We’re seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to support the day-to-day financial operations of our growing construction business. This role will work closely with the Controller and leadership team to ensure accurate financial reporting, effective cost tracking, and strong internal controls. It’s an excellent opportunity for someone with solid accounting experience who’s ready to take on more responsibility and contribute to a high-performing, collaborative team. A background in construction accounting is a plus but not required.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy and assist with journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, and internal financial policies
  • Coordinate with project managers to ensure accurate job costing and financial tracking
  • Assist in the preparation of Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports
  • Aid in developing and maintaining internal controls and accounting policies and procedures
  • Prepare and submit required tax filings (sales tax, use tax, payroll tax, etc.)
  • Assist with audits and regulatory reporting
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial analyses and executive-level reports

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA designation or progress toward CPA strongly preferred
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience (construction industry or public accounting a plus)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Strong Excel skills and data analysis abilities
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • High attention to detail with a strong sense of accountability and integrity
