About this Role

A Senior Estimator is responsible for developing detailed cost estimates and proposals for a variety of construction projects. This role works closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure accurate pricing, risk assessment, and value engineering, while supporting the preconstruction process from concept to contract award.

 

Estimating scope: Civil, High Voltage Electric T&D, Substations, and Renewables.

We specialize in electric infrastructure (transmission lines, distribution systems, and substations); gas distribution infrastructure; foundations; renewable, battery storage, and EV charging facilities; and emergency restoration.

What You'll Do

Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for heavy civil, infrastructure, or commercial construction projects.
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive estimates.
• Perform quantity take-offs, solicit subcontractor and vendor quotes, and evaluate scopes of work.
• Conduct site visits and pre-bid meetings to assess conditions and project requirements.
• Collaborate with internal teams (Project Management, Engineering, Procurement) for input and clarification.
• Develop and maintain pricing databases, cost histories, and unit cost data.
• Identify risk areas and offer value engineering or cost-saving recommendations.
• Participate in bid reviews, presentations, and client interviews as needed.
• Mentor junior estimators and assist in their professional development.
• Track market trends, labor rates, and material costs to maintain competitive and accurate estimates.
• Other related duties and projects as assigned

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 3-5  years of estimating experience in the construction industry, with at least 1 year in a senior-level or lead role.
  • Proven experience with estimating software (e.g., HCSS, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Sage, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience working on DOT, utility, or large-scale infrastructure projects is a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed
