About this Role

Substation Estimators at Irby Construction Company shall possess a minimum of four years of substation estimating experience. The individual will possess all the skills required for assignment as a Substation Estimator for any craft within his/her area of responsibility.  Such an employee shall also have in depth knowledge of all applicable OSHA codes and standards.

                                                 

What You'll Do

  • The Estimator will review design plans and specifications in requests for proposals/bids and verify constructability and cost and schedule effectiveness.
  • Preparation of complete labor and material estimates
  • Depth of knowledge with a wide variety electrical materials and methods of installation.
  • Read and understand civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, subsurface, etc. plans and specifications as they relate to the electrical work.
  • Experience in developing spreadsheets for major substation and line work projects: showing projects costs, man-hours and cost per man-hour / mile.
  • Candidate must be able to prioritize work in order to meet project estimating goals including proposal preparation, bid deadlines, cost targets and project schedules.
  • The successful candidate is a team player with effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Requires occasional overnight travel to various project sites.

What You'll Bring

  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years’ experience in Estimating.
  • Experience in High Voltage Substation Preferred.
  • Experience with both hard bid and negotiated.
  • Experience with conceptual estimating for budgeting of projects.
  • Candidates should have experience in the entire estimating process including bid preparation and budget preparation through completion.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Internet, MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), MS Project.
  • Ability to maintain department tracking databases.
