Intermountain Electric, Inc. (IME) is seeking an Assistant Preconstruction Manager to join their growing team!

Join the “Get Work” Team at IME and embark on a journey of professional growth while contributing to the growing business at IME.  As an Assistant Preconstruction Manager, you will play a key support role in IME’s preconstruction process. You will assist in managing project scopes, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring accuracy in estimates and project planning. What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities

  • Preconstruction Process: Assist Preconstruction Managers (PCM) with the preconstruction stage of electrical construction projects. Create, manage & maintain documents that clearly track scope & cost changes throughout the preconstruction process.  Regularly attend and participate in design meetings and contribute to, or create when needed, the development of scope-of-work documents.  Build and assist PCM’s in RFP responses that coordinate with Marketing, Business Development, and Operations teams.  Assist PCM’s and participate in project interview prep and client interviews.  Participate in building capture plans/pursuit opportunities for high value vertical markets.  Assist PCM’s and internal IME teams in constructability reviews during the preconstruction and design completion phases of projects.  Create narratives, visual tools, and presentation of findings and recommend modifications to project requirements as needed for presentation to customers. 
  • Budgets and Estimating: Build and assist Preconstruction Managers on detailed conceptual budgets for future projects and on detailed quantitative estimates for projects during preconstruction phase that help educate design and internal IME teams on scope and approach to construction.  Develop and trend design-development and/or implementation of project Value Alternates, Cost Savings initiatives, and previously undefined project scope items, as well as manage log weekly with clients.
  • Project Management: Build and assist PCM’s on developing preliminary project staffing and manpower requirements, in coordination with IME’s Operations department.  Develop and trend project material procurement schedules in accordance with the project construction schedule, while identifying and communicating potential risks and a risk mitigation plan necessary in order to maintain a critical path of the project due to long lead times and supply chain issues.  Develop, create, and present Scope of Work and project change narratives, and visuals if necessary, for clear presentation to customers, stakeholders, and design teams.
  • Strategy Development: Present fully vetted initiatives with accurate due diligence and risk assessment.  Demonstrate the highest level of integrity and ethics with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Compliance & Communication:  Review drawings, specifications and all other construction documents and communicate issues, accuracy of information, and potential risks. Heavily interact with vendors, suppliers, GCs, customers, and other company departments to resolve issues during design and/or pre-bid. Assure that potential risk factors have been evaluated and reviewed with senior management. Support and influence the accuracy of estimates and assist with suggestions for modifications and QA/QC of estimates.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate across the preconstruction team and other departments.  Support Project Management team as required during the construction phase.
  • Industry Networking:  Act as a brand ambassador for the company, promoting its values and expertise in the electrical contracting sector.  Demonstrate the highest level of integrity and ethics with internal and external stakeholders. Build relationships with general contractors. 

What You'll Bring

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of electrical construction in a large-scale commercial environment
  • Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions and trade practices
  • Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite, Primavera, Bluebeam, Accubid/Live Count, Trimble Connect, Procore, and similar cloud based document control programs.
  • Excellent communication skills – the ability to articulate a message, be persuasive, and explain complex information to audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge. Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain long-term relationships with clients, CGs and suppliers/vendors
  • Impeccable integrity and ethics with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with complex bid forms and breakouts
  • Familiar with contract language and review process of contract clause as well as building labor profiles and labor rates for contracts.
  • Knowledge of purchasing flows with the ability to quote and buy out projects.

Demonstrated accomplishments in the following areas:

  • Experience in preconstruction for large commercial electrical projects ranging from $5 to $100 million in value
  • Ability to consistently and effectively drive results that meet or exceed company goals
  • Experience working with and building SBE plans and having a desire to attend out reach opportunities.
  • Ability to build detailed prime cost budgets, estimates, and proposals that win work.
  • Demonstrated ability to set project target values and manage cost to target values as required.
  • Ability to simultaneously bid and oversee multiple projects, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and alignment with company objectives.

 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 or more years of experience in a preconstruction or related role. 

What You'll Get

Working Conditions:

The majority of the time you will work in a typical office environment.  Occasionally, you may travel to a construction job site. When on construction job sites you will encounter typical construction conditions including extreme temperatures, noise, dust, mud debris, welding, leading edge, trenching, and shoring, sometimes in a confined space.  You may be required to visit multiple locations during any one day.

Salary Range: 

$80,750 - $115,000

 *Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.*

Compensation Range

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $80,750.00/Yr. - USD $115,000.00/Yr. depending on experience and qualifications.
