BIM VDC Estimator
Intermountain Electric, Inc. (IME) is seeking a BIM/VDC Estimator to join their growing team!

We are seeking a BIM VDC Estimator to support estimating, takeoffs, and cost analysis while developing 3D electrical models in Revit and Navisworks. This role ensures accurate project planning, clash detection, and coordination with teams. If you’re detail-oriented and eager to grow, join us!
Key Responsibilities:
BIM & Modeling: Implement BIM processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements. Use Revit, Navisworks, and other BIM software to create detailed 3D electrical models and clash-free designs. Generate 2D drawings, schematics, and shop drawings for construction documentation. Assist in developing BIM families and tools to improve modeling efficiency. Support 3D alternates for design review and collaborate with manufacturing on best practices.
Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to understand project goals, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure that the electrical design aligns with budgetary constraints. Collaborate with project managers and estimators to gather data and prepare cost and schedule updates. Work closely with BIM/VDC leads, project managers, and field teams to optimize designs. Coordinate with other trades (mechanical, plumbing, structural) for seamless integration. Engage with clients and subcontractors to ensure project milestones are met.
Estimating & Takeoffs: Review blueprints and design documents to develop cost estimates for electrical systems, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services. Organize, model, and help auto-count quantities from BIM model and 2D drawings for takeoff. Learn on-screen takeoff techniques and basic estimating to support project cost and labor calculations. Maintain estimation documentation for future reference, including project specifications, bids and proposals.
Project Controls & Planning: Assist in setting up project controls and implementing Work Breakdown Structure standards. Support cost and schedule tracking, labor trending, and contingency management. Develop weekly work plans and manage project schedules. Contribute to project planning, revisions, and audits. Assess the scope of the project, considering timeline, site conditions, and potential risks to ensure the estimate is comprehensive and accurate.
Training & Professional Development: Participate in BIM and VDC training programs and stay updated on industry advancements. Perform other duties as needed to support project success and professional growth.

The majority of the time you will work in a typical office environment, the remainder of the time you will be on construction job sites. When on construction job sites you will encounter typical construction conditions including extreme temperatures, noise, dust, mud debris, welding, leading edge, trenching, and shoring, sometimes in a confined space. You may be required to visit multiple locations during any one day.

Salary Range:
$61,000 - $82,000
*Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.*
