About this Role

Job Title:  Process Engineer (Entry Level)

Job Summary:

The Process Engineer for this position is responsible for development under supervision of process design parameters including design concept, criteria, equipment specifications, code interpretations, equipment design, calculations, and selections. The Engineer is also responsible for developing the technical deliverables required for industrial process systems, as well as the overall system design for industrial facilities in one or more of the following areas, gas treating, oil and gas, power plants, or liquid material handling.

Applicant should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering. Primary responsibilities creating and updating P&ID's, working on chemical process simulations (HYSYS, ProMax, UniSim, Pipe-Flo, etc.), sizing PSV’s, and creating spec sheets for process equipment.

What You'll Do

Job Responsibilities:

  • Timely and accurate communication with clients, management, and co-workers
  • Be able to understand the specific scope of work, design criteria, and project standards
  • Participate in weekly calls as requested to verify scope and information
  • Preparing and maintaining calculations for submittals for applicable permits or client review
  • Develope system design including PFD, P&ID, Layouts, and Specifications
  • Check work received from Designers/Drafters for correctness and quality
  • Ensure all engineering tasks are on budget and on schedule
  • Develop process parameters including mass flow, heat transfer, material balance capacities and rates
  • HYSYS, ProMax, UniSim, Pipe-Flo or other analysis simulation software
  • Performing process engineering work under supervision to serve as a technical specialist for complex engineering assignments
  • Sizing, selecting and evaluation of Relief Devices according to API 520 & API 521 Pt. I & Pt. II and performing flare analysis
  • Sizing and selecting atmospheric pressure and vacuum protection devices according to API 2000
  • Interface with the mechanical, structural and electrical engineers
  • Line lists, Equipment list, and initial instrument list
  • Logic diagrams and cause and effect charts for the facility

What You'll Bring

Job Qualifications and Required Experience:

  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Biochemical, or Petroleum Engineering from an accredited university
  • Experience in Chemical Process Engineering in midstream and petrochemical industry (0-5 years preferred)
  • Familiarity with process design and control
  • Familiarity with relevant industrial standards, including: API 520, API 521 Pt. I & Pt. II, API 2000, ASME Sec. VIII, API 610, etc.
  • Able to identify and analyze problems and implement solutions
  • Developing industry specific calculations for systems such as chemical balance, pipe flow rates, compression, maximum intended inventory, over pressure protection, etc.
  • Developing sizing information for process equipment (compressors, pumps, heat exchangers, distillation columns, separators, reactors, etc.) and provide information in the form of equipment datasheets
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in project leadership and/or supportive roles
  • Engineering Intern (E.I.) in the State of Louisiana and/or Texas preferred
  • Light physical effort required to sit or stand, reach, bend and move about facility
