About this Role

Aerial/ Underground Field Supervisor Position Overview

The Aerial/Underground Field Supervisor will oversee the work of their crews based on job size. They will be capable of performing all duties of an Underground Laborer and Operator and will assist in training new laborers and operators on proper processes and job functions. The Foreman will also be responsible for submitting daily time sheets for their crew members and themselves and ensuring that all employees follow job site safety processes and protocols.

What You'll Do

Telecommunications Field Supervisor Responsibilities

  • Oversee all phases of Aerial/underground construction, including loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of various construction materials and equipment.
  • Walk out the job site and white line locates
  • knowledge of how Aerial works, set anchors, build pole lines, cross arm, epoxy arm
  • Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Restore and landscape disturbed areas of the job site.
  • Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, and other temporary structures.
  • Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications.
  • Identify utilities in the trench/bore path.
  • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
  • Ensure that equipment is cleaned and maintained.
  • Maintain a clean and safe job site.
  • Follow all on-site safety procedures.
  • Report incidents to the Supervisor or Safety Manager immediately.
  • Contact permitted city Inspector.
  • Submit daily timecards for crew members.
  • Submit daily pre-trip inspections and JHA’s.
  • Operate all heavy equipment in a safe manner.
  • Complete monthly assigned “Got Safety” lessons.
  • Manage crew and ensure productivity.
  • Complete as-builts and hand in completed prints.

What You'll Bring

Telecommunications Foreman Qualifications

  • WILLINGNESS TO TRAVEL
  • 3–5 years of experience in underground construction.
  • Ability to read maps, plans, and blueprints and convey this information to others.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of proper operation and safety standards of heavy equipment.
  • 1–3 years of experience operating heavy machinery, including loaders, dozers, backhoes, and excavators.
  • Traffic Control Maintainer certificate.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Valid driver’s license or eligibility and willingness to obtain the required license for the position.
  • Good driving record.
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment safely.
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to use hand tools and equipment safely.
  • Effective communication skills with customers, employees, etc.
  • Willingness and ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed with or without assistance.
  • Class A CDL is a plus (higher wage scales apply to CDL holders).
  • OSHA 10 certificate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous construction experience, preferably in the underground industry.
  • Ability to follow directions and take initiative when needed.
  • Understanding of daily maintenance for underground equipment.
  • Ability to perform all underground procedures and duties.

Working Conditions

This is a full-time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week. The position operates in an outdoor environment and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, including extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and high wind. The work environment will vary throughout the day, including changes in terrain, traffic, urban settings, and rural settings. This position may occasionally be exposed to natural gas and the risk of electrical shock, as well as moderate to loud noise levels.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods (up to 12 hours at a time).
  • Tolerance for working in extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to speak and hear worksite safety instructions.
  • Ability to withstand prolonged and repeated lifting, standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, feeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • Regularly lift 50 pounds.

Compensation Range:

The anticipated compensation for this position is between USD $22.00/Hr. and USD $38.00/Hr., depending on experience and qualifications.
