About this Role

NorthStar Energy Services is seeking a Field Estimator to support cost estimating and change order development for data center construction projects. Working at assigned project sites, this role will review drawings and specifications, perform quantity takeoffs, verify field conditions, and collaborate with project teams to develop accurate estimates for civil, structural, mechanical, and piping scopes.

This position offers the opportunity to build estimating experience while working alongside experienced estimators, engineers, and field construction teams. Travel and extended on-site assignments are required.

 

We are looking to fill openings in Colorado City, Wink, and Andrews, TX. 

What You'll Do

  • Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates and change order pricing for civil, structural, mechanical, and piping work.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and project documents and perform quantity takeoffs to identify material, labor, and equipment needs.
  • Support the review and comparison of subcontractor and supplier quotes.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to ensure estimates accurately reflect project scope.
  • Maintain historical cost and benchmarking data, and monitor material pricing and labor rates to support future estimates.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkdowns to understand scope and field conditions.
  • Help prepare proposal documentation, supporting cost details, and final bid packages.

What You'll Bring

  • An associate degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred; relevant field experience will be considered in place of a degree.
  • Strong interest in industrial construction and project estimating.
  • Analytical skills, solid math ability, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with estimating tools such as Bluebeam, MC2, Accubid, or similar software is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and across project teams.
  • Willingness to learn in a fast-paced data center construction environment.
  • Ability to travel and remain on-site for extended assignments. Per diem will be provided.
