About this Role

Got a taste for adventure and the skills to back it up? Robinson Brothers Construction, LLC is looking for skilled Telecom/Underground Utilities Heavy Equipment Operators ready to join our traveling crew and help power the Pacific Northwest and West Coast — one job site at a time.

This isn't a desk job, and it isn't a one-town job. Our crews move where the work is, tackling major projects across multiple states. We do our best to get our people home at night whenever we can — but when the next big job calls, we're ready to roll, and we need operators who are too.

If you love variety, thrive behind the controls of heavy equipment, and want a career that actually goes somewhere, this is your next move.

What You'll Do

You'll be at the heart of the action — operating cable plows, backhoes, mini excavators, skid steers, rock saws, and other heavy machinery to install, repair, and maintain the underground utility networks that keep communities connected. Every day brings a new site, a new challenge, and a new chance to put your skills to work.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy machinery safely and confidently
  • Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and grade to spec
  • Transport, load, and unload materials and equipment
  • Follow on-site safety procedures to the letter
  • Secure loads properly for transport
  • Stay sharp on DOT regulations
  • Run daily pre-trip inspections and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA)
  • Roll up your sleeves and hand-dig when machinery can't reach

What You'll Bring

What We're Looking For

  • A go-anywhere mindset — travel across multiple states is part of the job, and part of the fun
  • Valid CDL Class A is a plus (not required — but if you've got it, you'll earn premium pay for it)
  • Solid experience operating heavy equipment
  • Clean driving record (2 tickets or fewer in the last 5 years)
  • A sharp eye for safety and quality
  • Strong time management skills
  • A hands-on attitude — willing to do what it takes to get the job done right

Life on the Job

This full-time, hourly role (40+ hours/week) puts you outdoors and in the middle of real work — rain or shine, hot or cold. One day you're in open country, the next you're navigating an active worksite in town. It's physical, it's real, and it's never boring. Expect exposure to the elements, varying terrain, and occasional proximity to natural gas lines or electrical equipment — all managed with strict safety protocols.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand for up to 12 hours at a stretch
  • Handle extreme weather like a pro
  • Communicate clearly on-site for safety
  • Lift, climb, kneel, reach, crouch, and crawl as needed
  • Regularly lift up to 50 lbs
  • Sharp vision across the board — close, distance, color, depth, and peripheral

What You'll Get

Why You'll Love It Here

Pay Range: $25.00 – $38.50/hour, based on experience and qualifications

Benefits Include:

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
  • Flexible Spending Accounts / Health Savings Accounts
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Short- and Long-Term Disability coverage
  • Supplemental Life and AD&D Insurance
  • Paid Holidays and Vacation
  • Competitive pay that rewards your skills

And because we're part of the Quanta Services family, you'll also enjoy an outstanding extras package — travel discounts, car rental perks, phone discounts, tire discounts, and more.

Ready to trade the same old routine for the open road and a career that moves? Bring your skills, your work ethic, and your sense of adventure — we'll bring the opportunity.
