About this Role

We are looking for individuals who are reliable, self-motivated, safety-conscious, and team-oriented. This position requires someone who is willing to learn, accepts coaching, communicates effectively, and takes ownership of the quality of their work.

 

The ideal candidate is a field-oriented team player who is comfortable staying active throughout the day, adapting to changing priorities, learning multiple telecommunications inspection disciplines, and helping the team deliver a quality product to our customers.

What You'll Do

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must be willing and able to perform extensive walking and field inspections throughout the workday, including walking construction routes, easements, neighborhoods, and uneven terrain.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including Texas heat, cold, rain, and other field conditions.
  • Must be physically capable of climbing ladders and safely working around aerial telecommunications facilities.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain required training/certifications for bucket truck/aerial lift operation and other company-required equipment.
  • Must be comfortable working around active telecommunications construction environments, including aerial, underground, fiber, and coax facilities.
  • Must be able to perform pre-construction and pre-splice walkouts, construction inspections, post-construction QC inspections, surveys, rework inspections, and release verification.
  • Must be willing to learn and perform fiber-optic light-level testing, including proper use of optical test equipment and interpretation of acceptable light-level ranges.
  • Must be willing to learn RF/coax testing and acceptable RF level requirements for applicable lines of business.
  • Must be able to learn and interpret construction prints, maps, specifications, scopes of work, and customer quality standards.
  • Must be comfortable using mobile applications, tablets, smartphones, GPS, and electronic inspection platforms to document field findings, photographs, measurements, and inspection results.
  • Must provide clear, accurate, and detailed documentation of deficiencies and completed inspections.
  • Must be able to recognize construction defects, workmanship issues, safety concerns, and conditions that do not meet customer or company specifications.
  • Must be willing to support multiple lines of business and learn new inspection requirements as operations expand.
  • Must be able to work independently in the field with limited supervision while maintaining productivity and accountability.
  • Must be willing to travel locally and, when business needs are required, support projects outside the immediate market.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with company requirements.
  • Must be dependable and available to support early starts, occasional overtime, weekends, or project releases when required.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in all temperatures, climates, and weather conditions.  Able to perform the physical tasks required in this position for the entire assigned shift.  Some exposure to odors, gases, dust and dirt may occur.  The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud.

 

Lifting and carrying of 50 to 60 lbs. frequently is required. Job requires standing, walking, and sitting, climbing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling and reaching occasionally. May spend long periods of time driving and/or riding in line construction vehicles to reach remote areas of the service territory.
