About this Role

Probst Electric is seeking experienced Crane Operators to join our South Texas transmission‑line construction team. These positions play a critical role in supporting high‑voltage infrastructure projects, where precision, communication, and safety are non‑negotiable.

 

The ideal candidates are those who thrive in demanding outdoor environments, understands the unique challenges of transmission construction, and consistently delivers safe, efficient, and accurate crane operation.

 

Operators who excel in these roles bring a deep respect for high‑voltage safety protocols, strong situational awareness, and the ability to work seamlessly with linemen, riggers, and project leadership. What You'll Do

  • Operate hydraulic and boom cranes to support all phases of transmission construction, including structure erection, pole setting, wire‑pull support, and precise material placement. You’ll be responsible for executing lifts in tight right‑of‑ways, uneven terrain, and remote locations common to South Texas transmission corridors.

  • Perform safe lifts in accordance with OSHA, NCCCO, and Probst Electric safety standards, ensuring every lift plan is followed, every load is properly rigged, and every movement is communicated clearly with the crew. You’ll maintain strict situational awareness around energized equipment, heavy machinery, and high‑voltage environments.

  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and maintain accurate lift logs, documenting equipment condition, safety checks, and operational notes. You’ll identify potential issues early, coordinate with mechanics when needed, and ensure your crane remains in peak working condition throughout the project.

  • Work closely with linemen, riggers, and project leadership to support transmission construction schedules, adapting to changing site conditions and lift requirements. Clear communication, teamwork, and coordination are essential as you support structure setting, conductor operations, and material staging.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven experience operating hydraulic, boom, and lattice cranes
  • Valid NCCCO certification preferred
  • Valid CDL and DOT medical certification preferred
  • Strong commitment to safety and communication
  • Experience working on transmission or utility projects
  • Ability to work outdoors and in physically demanding environments
