About this Role

The Commissioning Technician I works closely with the Service Manager and field technicians to support the successful commissioning of utility-scale solar projects. This is an entry-level field role designed to build a strong technical foundation — you will learn Ampacity's installation standards, quality processes, and documentation practices while contributing meaningful work on real projects from day one.

Pay Range: $25.00 - $30.00

What You'll Do

  • Compare physical installations against blueprint specifications to verify project completion aligns with Ampacity's standard installation practices
  • Perform routine quality checks throughout the commissioning process and flag inconsistencies for review
  • Assist with in-field retrofits and modifications as directed by field technicians or the Service Manager
  • Maintain accurate records for all work performed and process submittals in line with Ampacity SOPs
  • Support troubleshooting of faulting trackers, both remotely and on-site, under the guidance of senior team members
  • Carry out routine or scheduled service repairs as needed
  • Report installation discrepancies and contribute feedback to improve future installation practices.

What You'll Bring

  • 0-2 years of experience in electrical, mechanical, solar, or a related trade field
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, or technical drawings
  • Sharp attention to detail and commitment to accurate, thorough documentation
  • Solutions-driven mindset with the ability to think critically in the field
  • Strong communication skills and a customer service orientation
  • Valid driver's license with a clean MVR and willingness to travel up to 80% of the time

Typical Work Environment

  • Active solar construction sites with heavy machinery, power tools, and construction equipment in operation.
  • 100% outdoor work environment subject to extreme weather conditions including snow and high heat, with exposure to dust, fumes, noise, and uneven terrain.
  • Work at various heights requiring fall protection equipment.
  • Position may require unexpected travel and relocation to project sites with short notice.

Physical Expectations

  • This work is physically demanding in nature and requires constant lifting of 30 – 50 pounds, unassisted, with lifts of 50+ pounds requiring assistance.
  • Working schedule will be 8 – 10 hours a day and 5 – 6 days a week (weather permitting).
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, and crawl for extended periods while operating tools and equipment safely.
  • Must be able to participate in required training hours as assigned.

Compensation Range

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $25.00/Hr. - USD $30.00/Hr. depending on experience and qualifications.
