About this Role

The Estimator role at Service Electric Company collaborates with clients, vendors, subcontractors and our internal team to create  estimates and assemble bids for projects within our core markets that enhance the profitability of the company and optimize our workforce. The role will have the autonomy to make certain decisions independently, but will collaborate with a manager on more complex matters.

What You'll Do

  • Manage the Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
  • Collaborate with Lead and Senior Estimators to prepare documents for legal review.
  • Identify bid type and scope, construction timeframes, materials, and labor expenses, and bonding and bid requirements.
  • Travel to and attend pre-bid meetings and/or to jobsites. Depending on the complexity of the bid or the customer the travel could accompanied by a more senior member of the team or independently.
  • Identify any potential project risks and discuss with the Lead and Senior Estimators.
  • Make recommendations on if subcontractors and materials are needed and gather needed quotes.
  • Work with Lead and Senior Estimators to perform takeoffs and build out project plans and constructions plans including the creation of supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with Lead and Senior Estimators to finalize the schedule and work plan and clarify expectations.
  • Complete bid forms, enter information in appropriate websites, and ensure everything is in order to submit a final bid with oversight from Lead and Senior Estimators.
  • Submit the final bid with approval from leadership.
  • Maintain bid logs.
  • Assist with the labor and equipment rate schedules.
  • Collaborate with Project Management and Field Leadership to ensure the job is set up correctly.
  • Others duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field or equivalent knowledge or skills obtained through a combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 3+ Years of estimating experience in the electrical construction field.
  • Strong experience in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify and solve issues.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Strong project management skills, capable of handling multiple projects concurrently with good time management.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to conducts self in an appropriate manner as a representative of SEC, working effectively in a diverse work environment.
