About this Role

Flare Construction has been doing this work since 1976, and we build our crews from the ground up — literally. The Pipelayer – Laborer is where a lot of great field careers at Flare start. You’ll work alongside experienced Fusers and Foremen on underground gas distribution and HDPE pipeline projects, learning the work from people who’ve been doing it for decades. If you show up, work hard, and want to grow, there’s a clear path forward here — including OQ qualification and advancement into fusion and foreperson roles.

What You'll Do

  • Support installation of underground pipeline systems — gas, water, sewer, and HDPE pipe — under Foreman direction
  • Perform trench preparation: hand digging, shoring assistance, bedding placement, and subgrade prep
  • Handle, position, and lower pipe into trench in coordination with equipment operators
  • Stage materials, maintain clean fusion zones, and assist the Fuser as directed
  • Perform backfill, compaction, and surface restoration to project specs
  • Keep the job site clean, organized, and hazard-free throughout the project
  • Participate in daily tailgate safety meetings and follow all site safety plans and Flare standards
  • Speak up when you see a hazard — that’s how we all get home safe
  • Pursue OQ qualification for applicable covered task codes as your scope and experience develop

What You'll Bring

  • Entry-level to 2 years of construction or pipeline labor experience; underground utility or HDPE pipeline background a plus
  • A strong work ethic, reliable attendance, and the ability to take direction and work well in a crew
  • Comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions doing physically demanding work
  • OSHA 10 required (must be completed within 90 days of hire if not currently held)
  • Willingness to complete OQ training and evaluations as your Gas Division work develops
  • Valid driver’s license preferred
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs. and work extended shifts in the field

What You'll Get

At Flare, the people who build things get taken care of. Here’s what comes with the job:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Company-paid life insurance
  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Pet insurance
  • LifeLock identity theft protection
  • Employee discount program
  • Paid time off
  • Paid vacation after one year of service
