About this Role

Flare Construction has been building the West since 1976 — and the crews that do this work are why we’re still at it. We’re looking for an experienced Pipelayer – Fuser to join our Gas Division and bring real fusion expertise to the field. This role is the heartbeat of pipe installation quality on our projects. You’ll work on underground gas distribution systems, HDPE pipelines, and DOT-regulated natural gas infrastructure across Utah and the region — with a team that knows the work and takes pride in doing it right.

What You'll Do

  • Perform HDPE pipe fusion operations — butt fusion, electrofusion, and socket fusion — to manufacturer specs and project requirements
  • Install underground pipeline systems including gas, water, sewer, and HDPE distribution pipe across all sizes and pressure ratings
  • Inspect pipe, fittings, and fusion joints for defects before and after installation; escalate non-conformances through proper channels
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, pipe specifications, and fusion datasheets
  • Document daily fusion logs and production records in coordination with your Foreman
  • Lead crew members and Laborers on safe pipelaying practices and fusion support tasks
  • Stay current on OQ qualifications for all applicable covered task codes; participate in scheduled requalification evaluations
  • Participate in daily tailgate safety meetings; call out hazards, near-misses, and equipment concerns without hesitation

What You'll Bring

  • 3–5 years of pipeline construction experience in gas distribution, water, or sewer systems — HDPE fusion experience required
  • Demonstrated hands-on ability to independently operate fusion equipment for butt fusion and/or electrofusion
  • Working knowledge of DOT Part 192/195 pipeline safety regulations and OQ program requirements
  • OQ qualification for applicable covered task codes, or the ability to obtain qualification as part of onboarding
  • OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred
  • Ability to read construction drawings and fusion datasheets
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL a plus
  • Comfortable with frequent field travel, including overnight stays on project assignments

What You'll Get

At Flare, the people who build things get taken care of. Here’s what comes with the job:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Company-paid life insurance
  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Pet insurance
  • LifeLock identity theft protection
  • Employee discount program
  • Paid time off
  • Paid vacation after one year of service
