About this Role

Service Electric Company is seeking a Safety Manager for our Cerntal Region. This role is responsible for assisting with the development of as well as implementing and overseeing all safety programs within their region. The Safety Manager partners with regional operation’s management as well as field leadership to lead their team of Safety Coordinates in reducing risk, prevent incidents, and support safe project execution.

 

This role will support our Central Region which includes Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Missouri, and Illinois. The role will work both in the office and in the field. It is preferred that the person live in Tennessee. 

What You'll Do

POSITION FUNCTIONS

  • Lead and manage the company’s safety program across all projects and worksites in their region.
  • Ensure compliance with all Service Electric Company and Quanta Services policies and procedures as well as all OSHA other applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations and standards.
  • Conduct Crew Observations as well as ensure that the your staff is conducting Crew Observations. Identify and find ways to resolve any issues found during the observations.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Capture “coach-able moments” for weekly call discussions.
  • Partner with field leadership and support staff to integrate safety into daily operations.
  • Ensure that accurate safety records, logs, and reporting are maintained.
  • Partner with the Training Department on development and delivery of training programs for SEC personnel, including OSHA-related safety requirements.
  • Coordinate coverage for the required training for new hires ensuring that the Safety Coordinators and others conducting the training are doing so based on company standards.  
  • Track and report safety metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist the Safety Coordinator in the event of elevated concerns.
  • Manage, develop, and mentor Safety Coordinators promoting a culture of accountability, teamwork, and excellence.
  • Stay current on regulatory changes and industry best practices, making recommendations to leadership for any needed updates and changes.

What You'll Bring

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent knowledge or skills obtained through a combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 5+ years of safety experience in electrical construction or heavy construction environments ( in addition to the educational equivalency).
  • Proven experience managing safety across multiple job sites. Previous employee management experience, a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and electrical safety standards

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Solid experience in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
  • Organized with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to identify and solve issues.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Excellent project management skills, capable of handling multiple projects concurrently with good time management.
  • Ability to build and foster relationships with team members.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to conducts self in an appropriate manner as a representative of SEC, working effectively in a diverse work environment.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: Valid driver's license, required. OSHA and safety related certifications, preferred.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Yes

TRAVEL REQUIRED: Moderate

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position requires:

  • Regular presence both an office setting and active construction field environments, including outdoor job sites subject to variable weather and terrain conditions.
  • Ability to traverse rough or uneven terrain and access construction work zones in compliance with all applicable safety protocols and personal protective equipment requirements.
  • The ability to drive to and from work sites that could include long periods of driving.
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, and climbing.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekend work, and on-call availability for emergency repairs
