About this Role

The Ampacity Crew Lead requires a minimum of 1.5–2 years of experience in solar, construction, landscaping, or a related field. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, can read and interpret installation documentation, and is capable of teaching proper installation practices and tool usage to crew members. This role operates with limited supervision and demands full proficiency in all daily tasks, a thorough understanding of the installation process and QA/QC standards, and the ability to operate various jobsite equipment. 

This is a physically demanding position requiring constant lifting of 30–50 lbs. unassisted and up to 75 lbs. assisted. All work is performed outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions, 8–10 hours per day, 5–6 days per week (weather permitting). 


This is a remote position that requires regular travel to client/project sites.

What You'll Do

  • Load, unload, move, and stage materials on site 
  • Assist heavy equipment operators with layout and foundations, including laser and string lining 
  • Install foundation piles and solar modules 
  • Assemble solar array tracking, gear rack components, and motor assemblies 
  • Read and build to construction drawings 
  • Complete proper JHAs and THAs 
  • Manage tools, laydown yard, and overall site organization 
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly worksite 
  • Adhere to all company safety procedures 
  • Meet or exceed target build hours 
  • Ensure task-level quality and QA/QC compliance 
  • Identify and report job impacts 

What You'll Bring

  • Willing and able to travel 75% - 100% of the time 
  • Comply with drug screening guidelines 
  • Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire 
  • Provide proof of employment eligibility to work in the US 

 

Typical Work Environment 

  • Active solar construction sites with heavy machinery, power tools, and construction equipment in operation. 
  • 100% outdoor work environment subject to extreme weather conditions including snow and high heat, with exposure to dust, fumes, noise, and uneven terrain. 
  • Work at various heights requiring fall protection equipment. 
  • Position may require unexpected travel and relocation to project sites with short notice. 

 

Physical Expectations 

  • This work is physically demanding in nature and requires constant lifting of 30 – 50 pounds, unassisted, with lifts of 50+ pounds requiring assistance. 
  • Working schedule will be 8 – 10 hours a day and 5 – 6 days a week (weather permitting). 
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, and crawl for extended periods while operating tools and equipment safely. 
  • Must be able to participate in required training hours as assigned.
