The Database Administrator role is responsible for the availability, security, support and integrity of the
Quanta Services database platforms. This includes, but is not limited to, implementation and
maintenance of both SQL and Oracle databases, support to operating units and use of various
management tools. The ideal candidate would have a background in database server design and
architecture, implementation, database tuning, reporting services and security.


  • Review daily backup reports and resolve any incomplete or missed backups.
  • Confirm off-site sync completed successfully
  • Verify all scheduled job have completed successfully.
  • Inspect SQL server error logs for unusual events
  • Resolve blocking, deadlocking, log shipping, connectivity or security issues.
  • Refresh non-production environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database integrity, performance issues
  • Performance tuning and query optimization using Idera tools
  • Perform basic administrative tasks using Oracle Enterprise Manager
  • Administer database user and role security in addition to file system security
  • Plan/forecast capacity needs for MS SQL environment
  • Install, configure, monitor and troubleshoot MS SQL Server and Oracle systems in non-clustered and clustered configurations.
  • Work closely with application/system administration and vendors to coordinate activities, resolve development and maintenance issues.
  • Participate in quarterly patch management routines
  • Prepare change management documentation for production environment changes
  • Design, construct and debug for SSIS, SSRS, SSAS
  • Maintain database documentation and standards


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent preferred, but comparable work experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years total database administration experience. (Stored Procedures, Triggers, Tuning, etc.)
  • Minimum of 5 years of database administration experience, with Microsoft SQL Server (all versions from 2005 to 2014), must include some experience tuning Transact-SQL.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Oracle database administration experience (all versions from Oracle 10g to 12c, knowledge about RAC, ASM, and RMAN is a plus).
  • MCDBA Certification – Preferred
  • Oracle certified Associate - Preferred
  • MCITPS for Microsoft SQL Server – Preferred
  • ITIL Foundation – Preferred
  • Experience administering complex 24x7 database environments
  • Experience with supporting and executing a high availability disaster recovery design – Intermediate level
  • Experience with Azure PaaS SQL deployment, maintenance and architecture – Intermediate level
  • Experience in Microsoft Windows Server administration, Linux is a plus – Intermediate level
  • Proven understanding of Clustering concepts, features, limitations and implementations.
  • Experience working with service delivery methodologies (ITIL) – Intermediate Level
  • Experience working with formal architecture methodologies and software development lifecycle processes
  • Customer service oriented and proactive in anticipating and resolving problems while maximizing efficient use of available IT resources.
  • Adherence to processes and understanding the importance of documentation is required.
