About this Role

Intermountain Electric, Inc. (IME) is seeking a highly experienced General Superintendent to provide strategic leadership and oversight of field operations across multiple electrical construction projects.

This General Superintendent provides oversight of multiple Superintendents, Foremen, and field personnel to ensure successful project execution from pre-construction through closeout. This role is responsible for high-level scheduling strategy, workforce planning, safety leadership, production performance, quality assurance, and operational consistency across assigned projects.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities

 

Field Leadership & Operational Oversight

  • Provide direct leadership, supervision, and mentorship to Superintendents, General Foremen, and Foremen.
  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring consistent execution standards across all job sites.
  • Develop and enforce standardized field processes, procedures, and best practices.
  • Monitor field productivity, manpower utilization, and production performance metrics.
  • Identify operational challenges and implement proactive solutions to maintain schedule and budget adherence.
  • Lead workforce planning and long-term labor forecasting in coordination with Operations and Project Management teams.
  • Manage field staffing assignments to ensure proper allocation of talent and resources.

Pre-Construction & Strategic Planning

  • Participate in Job Estimate Turnover Meetings to ensure full project understanding and successful field execution strategy.
  • Collaborate with Estimators, Project Managers, and BIM teams to develop means, methods, and logistics strategies.
  • Review and refine site logistics plans, temporary power strategies, and material flow planning.
  • Assist in developing Integrated Project Teams (IPT) and Control Take-Off plans.
  • Contribute to risk analysis and due diligence during pre-construction planning.

Scheduling & Production Management

  • Oversee development and execution of master schedules and rolling look-ahead schedules (12-week, 6-week, and 4-week).
  • Ensure proper scope distribution and accountability among Superintendents and Foremen.
  • Monitor production goals and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Track daily reports, timesheets, manpower loading, and productivity metrics.
  • Ensure accurate project documentation, including as-builts and panel schedules.

Safety & Compliance Leadership

  • Champion IME’s safety culture and enforce compliance with all OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Oversee implementation of Project Master Safety Plans.
  • Conduct site visits and audits to verify safety and quality compliance.
  • Coordinate inspections with AHJs and ensure code compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety performance across projects.

Quality Control & Client Satisfaction

  • Ensure work meets or exceeds company quality standards and contract requirements.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and stakeholders to ensure client expectations are met.
  • Support RFI development and resolution processes.
  • Oversee vendor coordination, system start-ups, and final project handoffs.
  • Participate in closeout meetings to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.

Tool, Equipment & Inventory Management

  • Oversee management and allocation of tools, equipment, and materials across job sites.
  • Ensure proper inventory tracking and minimize loss.
  • Confirm owner stock and contractual deliverables are properly transferred at project completion.

What You'll Bring

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, installations, and construction practices.
  • Strong understanding of scheduling methodologies and construction management principles.
  • Advanced understanding of workforce productivity and resource planning.
  • Familiarity with OSHA 10 (OSHA 30 preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and construction software (e.g., Bluebeam Studio).
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform due diligence and risk assessment.
  • Impeccable integrity and professionalism with internal and external stakeholders.

Demonstrated accomplishments in the following areas:

  • Experience overseeing projects up to $5M+.
  • Proven ability to supervise and lead 20–50+ field employees across multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated success improving field productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Strong ability to interpret construction drawings and drive milestone completion.
  • Track record of maintaining strong safety performance.

Education & Experience

  • 10+ years of field experience in electrical construction with progressive leadership responsibility.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Colorado Journeyman Electrical License required.
  • Certification from an accredited electrical trades school preferred.

What You'll Get

Working Conditions:

The majority of the time you will work on construction job sites. When on construction job sites you will encounter typical construction conditions including extreme temperatures, noise, dust, mud debris, welding, leading edge, trenching, and shoring, sometimes in a confined space.  You may be required to visit multiple locations during any one day.

Benefits Overview:

If union, this position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement, which outlines the applicable terms and conditions. Wages are determined based on experience and certifications, with benefits specified in the corresponding collective bargaining agreement.

 

Salary Range: 

$110,000 - $149,000

 *This is a non-exempt bargaining role and is eligible for overtime.

Compensation Range

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $110,000.00/Yr. - USD $149,000.00/Yr. depending on experience and qualifications.
