About this Role

Crux is seeking an Estimator to prepare project proposals, cost estimates, and schedules for construction projects. This role supports project planning, resource coordination, and bid preparation to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.

 

What You'll Do

Scheduling:

  • Develop, update, and maintain resource loaded project schedules. Organize and document project planning sessions.
  • Merge project engineering and procurement with construction and commissioning schedules then maintain throughout the job.
  • Assist the project in compiling and management the short term schedule development and reporting (90 day, 3 week and 1 week look ahead schedules).

 

Reporting:

  • Develop and publish monthly deliverable curves and graphs.
  • Develop and maintain budget and cost reports, earned value analyses, and resource planning and allocation.
  • Perform weekly financial review; notify project management of necessary corrective actions.
  • Produce monthly progress report to include reporting on schedule and cost progress, trends and forecasts.
  • Complete progress and quantity audits to validate reported progress.

 

PM and Project Support:

  • Analyze project controls data to assist project manager in directing project activities. Assist in the tracking of project change orders and development of projections.
  • Complete time impact analyses and support contract management in resolution to impacts.
  • Assist project managers with development of project procedures.
  • Assist in developing projections for projects.
  • Coordinate resources necessary to commence the project, including:
    • Construction materials.
    • Engineering submittals and acceptance.
    • Subcontractors.
    • Communication with Project Management about Crux resource assumptions.
  • Travel to jobsites to participate in project status updates as necessary.
  • Work with Project Management on project close-out, final submittals, and customer feedback.

 

Estimating:

  • Review and prepare project proposals, including cost estimating, preliminary schedules, resource planning, engineering reviews, vendor and subcontractor solicitations, qualification assumptions and required submittals.
  • Perform take-off and entry on estimates into company software.
  • Prepare information for transition from estimating to construction.
  • Collaborate with project management and engineering through the stages of bid preparation.
  • Perform analysis of historical data and best means and methods procedures.

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with contract/subcontract compliance issues.
  • Coordinate with project managers, operations management, accounting, and subconsultants.
  • Maintain communications on all projects, estimates and inquiries.
  • Explore new project opportunities to determine if Crux's unique capabilities provide a competitive advantage and allow us to meet our financial performance objective. Maintain Project Controls Documents, and communicate to project and executive management. Communicate to customer as necessary.
  • Provide analysis and feedback regarding project closeout information to the business development department.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field.
  • Two (2) or more years' experience performing estimating/controls in a Construction environment, EPC and/or cost-based estimating in foundation construction experience preferrred.
  • Excellent communication skills. Demonstrated history of customer interaction and contract negotiations.
  • Prior experience with construction bidding/estimating software, HeavyBid preferred.
  • Prior experience with Primavera P6 experience preferred. 

Compensation Range

The anticipated compensation for this position is - depending on experience and qualifications.
