About this Role

FiberTel is hiring a Telecom/Underground Superintendent for our Sacramento, Vallejo, and Santa Rosa locations.

 

The Telecom/Underground Superintendent will be responsible for providing highly skilled support to fiber/telecom projects, performing various duties related to building, trenching, drilling/boring, and operating in the OSP/telecom industry. This is a challenging and rewarding position that offers opportunities for career growth and advancement.

 

This position can travel up to 100% of the time from Sacramento to Vallejo and Santa Rosa locations. Must have HDD/underground construction leadership experience to be considered. Must be highly proficient in Excel/Outlook/Databases.

What You'll Do

Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspection of job sites and individual work duties.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and safety standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on equipment.
  • Maintain a daily job-site log.
  • Participate in required supervisor meetings. 
  • Ensure that each team member is aware of quality and safety standards and company policies 
  • Assist in training supervisors, foreman and crew members. 
  • Create and maintain positive relationships with workers, customers, suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors. 
  • Coordinate with subcontractors.
  • Coordinate construction services and activities.
  • Mediate disputes or complaints with third parties.
  • Approve daily timecard submissions for foreman and crew members.

What You'll Bring

Qualifications

  • 10+ years fiber/telecom/underground experience preferred
  • Experience leading multiple crews.
  • 1-3 years of experience as a construction manager, project manager or similar level preferred.
  • Proficient in operating heavy machinery, including cranes and excavators.
  • Strong understanding of oil and gas industry practices and regulations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Working Conditions:  

This is a full-time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week. This position operates in an outdoor environment and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including; extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and high wind. The outside work environment will vary throughout the day including changes in terrain, traffic, urban settings, and/or rural settings. This position may occasionally be exposed to natural gas and to the risk of electrical shock. Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels. 

 

Physical Requirements: 

The employee will need to have the ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 12 hours at a time), tolerate work in extreme weather conditions, speak and hear worksite safety instructions, withstand prolonged and repeated: lifting, standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching and feeling, crouching, and crawling. The employee will need to be able to regularly lift 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Compensation Range

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $130,000.00/Yr. - USD $160,000.00/Yr. depending on experience and qualifications.
