About this Role

Project Safety Coordinator – Transmission Powerline Construction (Texas)

Make an impact in the power that keeps Texas running.
At Irby Construction Company, we build the infrastructure that powers communities — and we do it safely, every single day.

We’re seeking a Project Safety Coordinator with hands-on Transmission Powerline experience who’s ready to lead safety efforts across Texas. If you’ve worked in the field, led crews, and take pride in keeping people safe, this is your opportunity to make a lasting difference.

What You'll Do

As a Project Safety Coordinator, you’ll be the on-site safety leader — working directly with crews, foremen, and project managers to ensure every job is done safely and efficiently.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading and reinforcing Irby’s culture of Ownership of Safety
  • Coaching crews to identify and correct hazards in real time
  • Integrating safety planning into daily operations — from pre-construction through completion
  • Supporting safe execution of transmission activities, including:
    • Structure erection, wire stringing, rigging, energized line work, grounding, and heavy equipment operations and more
  • Leading tailgate talks, site meetings, and on-the-job training
  • Managing incident investigations, reporting, and corrective actions
  • Ensuring OSHA compliance, audits, and documentation
  • Driving continuous improvement and proactive risk management
  • Lead safety on major transmission projects across Texas
  • Work with teams that value your expertise and leadership
  • Build a long-term career with a company known for safety, integrity, and quality
  • This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who wants to help shape the future of safety in Transmission Powerline construction.

    Ready to Power What’s Next?

Join Irby Construction and help power the future — mentoring the next generation of linemen, operators, and safety leaders while building excellence into every project.

What You'll Bring

A safety professional who’s lived the work — and can lead with both experience and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of field safety or leadership experience (e.g., General Foreman, Crew Lead, Journeyman Lineman, Operator, Crane experience) in Transmission Powerline Construction
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with credibility in the field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Experience with safety documentation and reporting systems
  • Communication skills (verbally and electronically)

Preferred, not required:

  • First Aid/CPR/AED & Bloodborne Pathogens Trainer Certification
  • CHST or similar safety credential

Who You Are

  • Experienced in powerline or transmission work environments
  • A coach and leader who builds safe habits without slowing progress
  • Organized, self-motivated, and decisive in the field
  • Skilled in safety training, observations, and reporting
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and willing to travel within Texas or surrounding states

Why You’ll Love Working with Irby

What You'll Get

  • Paid Vacation
  • Paid Holidays
  • Medical
  • Dental
  • Vision
  • Life Insurance
  • 401K
