About this Role

Power Engineering Services (PES), a Quanta Services company, is seeking an IT Support Specialist to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will assist with hardware setup / configuration, troubleshooting, and replacement.

 

The IT Support Specialist will also be responsible for deploying build images and software to laptops and desktops using SCCM. This role involves providing end-user support, including moves, transfers, new hires, and interacting with VIP users.

 

This position is located in Converse, TX.

What You'll Do

  • END-USER TECHNICAL SUPPORT
    • Serve as the first and primary point of contact for all end-user IT support needs at the OpCo.
    • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, and connectivity issues via in-person, phone, or email support.
    • Troubleshoot desktop, laptop, mobile device, and printer issues, as well as application and network malfunctions.
    • Provide after-hours support when needed to minimize operational disruption.
  • HARDWARE, SOFTWARE & SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION
    • Independently install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, mobile phones, printers, and other peripherals.
    • Set up new employee workstations and ensure all necessary software, access, and equipment are in place.
    • Manage user accounts, group policies, and permissions using Active Directory.
    • Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes, including account provisioning and deactivation.
  • ASSET LIFECYCLE & PROCUREMENT MANAGEMENT
    • Serve as the single point of contact for all IT procurement activities at the OpCo.
    • Order laptops, mobile phones, software licenses, and accessories in accordance with company policies and budgets.
    • Manage the full lifecycle of IT assets, including planning, acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and retirement.
    • Track inventory and asset assignments across all hardware and mobile devices.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date asset management logs, including repairs, replacements, and decommissions.
    • Coordinate with corporate IT to ensure end-of-life devices are wiped, decommissioned, and disposed of securely.
  • SECURITY OPERATIONS & COMPLIANCE
    • Work with regional and QCO IT teams to implement and enforce network security protocols.
    • Assist in vulnerability management activities, including the identification, tracking, and remediation of system and software vulnerabilities.
    • Participate in patch management efforts and coordinate with users to minimize downtime during critical updates.
    • Ensure adherence to company IT policies, data protection standards, and industry best practices.
    • Assist in periodic audits or assessments to validate compliance and documentation accuracy.
  • IT DOCUMENTATION & KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT
    • Maintain organized documentation of support requests, resolution steps, system configurations, and procedures.
    • Generate reports related to IT inventory, support ticket trends, and operational issues for OpCo, regional, and QCO-level IT management.
    • Develop and update user reference materials and guides as needed.
  • END-USER ENABLEMENT & TRAINING
    • Provide one-on-one or small-group training on basic IT systems, security practices, and onboarding procedures as needed.
    • Offer guidance on the effective use of standard hardware and software platforms.
  • PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
    • Lift and transport IT equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
    • Perform physical tasks such as crawling, stooping, or climbing ladders during equipment setup and maintenance.
  • TASK & PROJECT COORDINATION
    • Prioritize and manage daily tasks across support, procurement, and maintenance needs.
    • Coordinate IT-related initiatives or deployments within the OpCo with minimal supervision.
    • Provide progress updates and escalation notices to appropriate stakeholders when necessary

What You'll Bring

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field preferred; Minimum of High School Diploma OR GED equivalent
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, or Security+ or similar, are a plus but not required.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in IT coordination, IT support, or IT operations role preferred
  • Experience coordinating IT projects or initiatives with Proficiency using IT support tools such as Jira or similar ticketing systems
  • Experience with VPN connectivity, antivirus management, Citrix installation troubleshooting, application / database installation, backup tape management, mobile device management (MDM), and telephony services are beneficial.
  • Experience with desktop and mobile operating systems (Windows, macOS, iOS/Android).
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts, cloud services, and SaaS tools
  • Familiarity with firewall configuration and security protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
