Position Summary:

Aspen Utility Company is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Fiber Splicer to join our telecommunications construction team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in fiber optic cable splicing, testing, and troubleshooting in both aerial and underground environments. This role is critical to ensuring high-quality connectivity for our clients across residential, commercial, and municipal projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform fusion and mechanical splicing of fiber optic cables.
• Conduct OTDR, power meter, and light source testing to verify cable integrity.
• Interpret and work from network schematics, blueprints, and splice diagrams.
• Install and maintain fiber optic systems in aerial and underground settings.
• Troubleshoot and repair damaged fiber systems.
• Maintain accurate records of splicing activities and test results.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and company protocols.
• Collaborate with field crews, project managers, and clients to meet project timelines.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in fiber splicing or related telecommunications work.
• Proficiency with fiber splicing tools and test equipment (e.g., OTDR, fusion splicer).
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics.
• Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with GIS mapping and documentation tools.
• Knowledge of coaxial cable systems and small cell installations.
• Familiarity with safety protocols in utility construction environments.
