Environmental Safety Specialist
If you enjoy working with a great group of professionals, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and are passionate about environmental safety and compliance, then we have a role for you! Potelco, Inc. is looking to add an Environmental Safety Specialist to our team in Sumner, WA.
This position supports the company’s environmental compliance efforts by conducting site visits, performing audits, and ensuring that policies and procedures meet regulatory standards. You’ll have the opportunity to travel to project sites across Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana while developing your expertise alongside a strong safety and compliance team.
Environmental Compliance & Auditing:
· Conduct environmental audits at active job sites and facilities to ensure regulatory and company compliance.
· Support environmental inspections and reporting efforts.
· Assist in developing and maintaining documentation related to environmental programs.
Site Visits & Field Support:
· Perform regular field visits to observe environmental practices and verify compliance.
· Act as a liaison between field operations, safety leadership, and the executive team.
Policy & Program Support:
· Stay current with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and communicate updates to relevant teams.
· Help develop, implement, and update environmental safety policies and procedures.
· Support environmental incident tracking, reporting, and follow-up actions. Provide training support and materials for environmental awareness.
· Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
· At least 1 year of related experience, including internships, co-ops, or full-time work in environmental compliance or health & safety.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Willingness to travel throughout WA, OR, ID, CA, NV, WY and MT 50% of the time.
· Must pass mandatory drug and alcohol screening(s).
· Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
· Knowledge of environmental regulations (EPA, state-specific DEQs, etc.)
· Experience in construction or utility industries.
